What is Dekton?

Dekton is an ultra-compact material whose unique properties give it the very highest quality compared to other materials. It is very hard and sealed. It does not allow juices, acids or other liquids to pass through. Dekton panels are hard due to the compression of raw materials under high pressure. Baking under high temperatures is required, as this makes Dekton rock hard and non-porous. In short: Dekton is a new, ultra-compact, strong and hard worktop with closed surface.

How is Dekton made?

A special technological process is used to produce Dekton. Where natural stone normally takes thousands of years to form through exposure to high pressure and high temperatures in the earth, a Dekton slab is produced in only a few hours. The raw materials are mixed and ground and given a specific particle size, pigment is added, the whole thing is dried and then placed evenly on a belt. Then the raw materials are pressed to remove the air from the mass. The result of this process is to bring the small colored granules together. As a final step, the grains are baked in an oven at 1,200 degrees Celsius, where the grains are transformed into a network of glass, liquefy and then return to a solid form. A slab stays in the oven for about 3 hours. Dekton comes only in a matte finish.
